Join us for The Margaret Thatcher Centre’s inaugural Annual Policy Summit:
‘Sovereignty and Security – Borders and Asylum in a Troubled World’

Discover the enduring relevance of Margaret Thatcher’s philosophy at our inaugural Annual Policy Summit to be held at the stunning Broughton Sanctuary in Yorkshire. We’ll dive into Nationhood and Security—two of the nine core principles she believed were vital to maintain freedom and which she outlined during her presidency of Conservative Way Forward.
Organised in partnership with Popular Conservatism and chaired by Andrew Allison, Conference Director, and Blair Gibbs, Policy Director of the Margaret Thatcher Centre, this event will explore how the UK can strengthen its sovereignty and security in response to mass illegal migration.
Engaging discussions will focus on practical policy solutions to restore sovereign control, alongside the legal and resourcing needs for a secure border and a robust, sustainable asylum system. A diverse line-up of speakers, including national and local perspectives from elected representatives of major political parties, will share their insights.
Hear from experienced voices with hands-on expertise, including:

  • The Rt Hon Robert Jenrick MP, Shadow Justice Secretary
  • Gawain Towler, Political Strategist and Reform Governing Board Member
  • Cllr Brendan Chilton, Leader of the Labour Group, Ashford Borough Council
  • Rafal Heydel-Mankoo, Senior Fellow, New Culture Forum
  • Alp Mehmet, Former British Diplomat and Chairman, Migration Watch
  • Tony Smith, Former Head of UK Border Force
  • David Neal, Former HM Chief Inspector of Borders & Immigration
  • Dr Chris Jenkins, former Special Advisor to the Attorney General and Home Secretary

The full-day conference begins with registration at 9am. Sessions start at 10am, and finish at 4pm. Cap the day with an optional drinks reception and dinner, available to book separately.

Tickets are limited, with priority given to existing supporters and past attendees of Margaret Thatcher Centre events
